There are many things to consider when setting milling fees at a clients location. All on-site milling engagements will require an prior on-site evaluation where we will evaluate the project and tailor the fees to your situation.During the visit we will measure your logs, estimate board footage and explain our fees and options. We only accept checks (bank), cash or money orders. No deposit is required but payment is expected when services are rendered.
This is a per day fee to set up and break down the sawmill. Discounts are available for large volume jobs.
The mileage fee is based on a 1-way distance from my home to the client location. This is calculated using Google Maps. Discounts are available for multiple millings at a client location of up to 50%. This fee does not apply for pre-milling on-site evaluation.
Small logs, less than 10” on small end or 6’ long, require extra time to load, turn and clamp yielding small number of board feet for the time involved. These logs will be charged by the hour rather than the board feet. Hourly rates may also be charge for custom cutting, i.e. custom diameters, mantels, beams, reassign, etc.
The bandsaw blade is designed for cutting wood. Cutting into solid objects such as metal, nails, fencing, rocks, etc will damage the blade. A damaged blade will incur a $30 fee to cover the removal/reinstallation and blade sharpening/replacement. We will do our best to detect the metal prior to milling and work around or eliminate the obstacle to give you the most wood from the log.
The most efficient milling operation is on reasonable level service and has the logs placed parallel to where the mill will be set-up and readied to be loaded. An hourly fee will be charged for any preparation of the logs prior to milling, e.g. sawing off limbs, bucking logs to length, trimming oversized or odd shape logs that won’t fit the mill, removing excess dirt or debris from the log or relocating the mill after the initial setup.
